On June 25, 2026, I opened the db 360° online talk "Digitalisation in Construction Practice" by db deutsche bauzeitung with a keynote titled "From Data Silo to Data Treasure."
The core argument: even the smartest AI produces poor results if the underlying data is unstructured, outdated, or siloed. Of the three ingredients of AI, algorithms, compute, and data, the third is the actual lever for planning firms. I showed how knowledge systems via Retrieval Augmented Generation, model-based tender documents, and AI-supported LCA analyses work in practice, and why the path there runs through four steps: structure the data, define processes, integrate, scale.
