In the early 1980s, the architectural movement of Postmodernism gained worldwide attention and led to controversial discussions. In 1981, Jürgen Joedicke, director of the Institute for Fundamentals of Modern Architecture, organized an international symposium on the topic "Architecture of the Future, Future of Architecture." Renowned architects discussed their views on architecture. The goal was to critically assess the situation and present approaches for future architecture.

In this exhibition conceived by students of the Faculty of Architecture and Urban Planning at the University of Stuttgart, the show-down between Postmodernism versus Modernism comes alive once again!

The exhibition focuses on comparing and analyzing the different positions of architects in the debate. Submitted concept sketches for critical engagement with the Weißenhof Estate are shown. Furthermore, relevant projects in Stuttgart's city center are analyzed: The State Gallery as a masterpiece of Postmodernism in Germany and the Small Palace Square, which holds many emotions for numerous Stuttgart residents.
